Great to see my YA novel, Jilda’s Ark, listed as a hot new release!
The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) has its annual Bookstop up and running!
I thoroughly enjoyed the Love YA festival at Flowstate, South Bank, on Saturday 12th May. Love YA is part of the Brisbane Writers’ Festival, although that doesn’t take place until September.
The first 50 attendees received a copy of Unearthed by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner, and despite my train crawling along and stopping for unknown reasons, I still arrived early enough to be among those lucky few to get one in my bag of festival loot.
The sessions included interviews and conversations with some of my favourite YA authors: Ellie Marney, Cath Crowley, Steph Bowe, and Paula Weston. It was wonderful to see them in the flesh and listen to their ideas. Very insightful. An interesting session was held with Jeann Wong, book blogger, and Piera Forde, book review youtuber, who gave the audience a peek behind the scenes of what they do and why.
A pop-up book store made it easy to buy books to be signed by the participating authors, and there was also a Book Swap table, the proceeds of which went to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. A Letter Library, where attendees could write letters and pop them into the books provided, or bash out part of an ongoing story on an old typewriter, was tucked in to make it look cosy. Nail and face art were popular too!
Thanks to the organisers and participants for a very interesting day.
Been busy with the first edit of Jilda’s Ark, now due out in December with Harmony Ink Press. It’s always interesting to see what the editors pick up on with your work. I’ve also been sent some concept ideas for the cover. The cover of a book is so important, so it is essential to get it right.
Excited to hear from Harmony Ink Press that my next YA novel, Jilda’s Ark, is to be published in December this year. Originally it was to be in 2019, so it’s great news it will be coming out just in time for Christmas!
Thrilled that contract has been signed with Harmony Ink Press for Jilda’s Ark, my latest YA novel, due out 2019!
Here’s the result of an interview I had with fellow Tasmanian author, Anne Morgan:
